Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Kari Lehtonen turned away 24 shots for his
third shutout of the season as the Dallas Stars took a 3-0 win over the
Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Sergei Gonchar, Jamie Benn and Rich Peverley all scored for the Stars, who
have won their past three.
Marc-Andre Fleury gave up all three goals on 28 shots for the Penguins, who
had won four of five coming in.
The Stars got on the board at 15:02 of the first period while on the power
play as Gonchar took a feed in the high slot from Ray Whitney and blasted it
It was a 2-0 game 3:13 into the second on the power play as Alex Goligoski
sent a pass from the left point to the low right side where Benn had a wide-
open net for his 19th of the year.
Dallas took a 3-0 advantage just past the midway mark of the second frame as
Shawn Horcoff hit a flying Peverley with a pass and Peverley was able to wrist
one past Fleury's glove for his seventh of the season.
Lehtonen stopped 12 shots in the third to polish off the shutout.
