ARNOLD, Md. (WUSA9) -- A bicyclist was flown to the hospital after a car struck her on Ritchie Highway in Arnold, Md., say police.
Police tell us at approximately 2:29 p.m. Monday, Susan Hahn was biking south on Ritchie Highway, just south of Jones Station Road, when she attempted to turn left across the northbound lanes of Ritchie Highway and into a nearby shopping center. Police say as she waited to cross traffic from a dedicated turn lane, traffic in two lanes stopped to allow her to cross, but as she crossed a third lane she was struck by a 2013 Hyundai Sonata.
According to police, drugs and/or alcohol were not factors in the crash nor was speeding or traveling in a negligent manner on the part of the driver.
Police say the primary cause of the collision is Failure to Yield Right of Way on the part of Hahn.
Hahn was flown to Shock Trauma where she was admitted with multiple injuries.
