Jared Barnett has left the football program, coach Brock Spack announced
Barnett, a junior transfer from Iowa State, started the first two games and
played in one more game for the 2-3 Redbirds. He left the program for personal
reasons, Spack said.
"We wish Jared the best in the future and will help him in any way we can,"
Spack said in a statement.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Barnett, from Garland, Texas, completed 27-of-48 passes
for 415 yards and three touchdowns with five interceptions.
Redshirt freshman Blake Winkler has replaced Barnett as the team's starting
While at Iowa State, Barnett led the Cyclones to a double-overtime win over
then-No. 2 Oklahoma State in 2011.
