GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two men stopped for a registration violation on Monday night were later charged for having firearms, according to Anne Arundel County police.

According to police,  at approximately 11:38 p.m., an officer stopped a Ford Taurus in the area of Bruton Drive and Southbridge Drive in Glen Burnie for expired and altered tags. Another officer and his K-9 partner "Rocky" arrived on scene and conducted a scan of the vehicle, and found the odor of possible drugs in the vehicle.

Police say the driver and passenger were seated on a curb while officers began searching the vehicle. Officers found a jacket with a loaded .38 caliber revolver in the pocket, say police. The man who had been the passenger, Tevin McMillion of Severn, then got up and started running away, according to police.

Officers followed the man to B&A Boulevard and Marley Meadow Lane towards Henson Road and used Rocky to track the man, according to police. He was found in a backyard in the 100 block of Henson Road, and taken into custody, say police.

Both McMillian and the drifver, Aaron Whitten, were prohibited from possessing regulated firearms and charged accordingly, say police.
