Twenty Panda cubs were born at Chengdu Research Base for Giant Panda Breeding in 2013 and 17 of those cubs survived.

The Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987 with six giant pandas rescued from the wild and today has increased their captive population to over 83 individuals.
