Fiery truck crash on Inner Loop ramp to Rt. 1 in College Park, Md.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A tractor trailer struck a parked, unattended vehicle on the shoulder of the Inner Loop at exit 25 in the local lanes early Friday morning, say Maryland State Police.

The accident was reported at approximately 4:55 a.m. MSP says officers arrived around 5:10 a.m.

The tractor trailer driver got out safely, according to police. There were no other injuries.

WNEW reports that the driver told them he was hauling cardboard and wood, and tried to avoid hitting unattended vehicle but couldn't get into another lane in time because he was blocked by another car.

The fire started immediately after collision, reports WNEW.

State police say the fire is out and tow trucks have arrived at the scene.

Lanes have reopened.
