WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Fewer D.C. drivers are getting tickets from speed cameras.

The city increased the speed limit by five miles per hour on six busy commuter routes. AAA says revenue from the speed cameras has dropped by more than 50 percent in many of those locations.

The District also dropped the typical speeding fine to $91 from the old average of $100.

The city is projected to take in nearly $80 million from the cameras this fiscal year, compared to $91 million the previous year.
