WASHINGTON (AP) - Ben's Chili Bowl has served half-smoke sausages and chili in Washington for more than 50 years, but now the restaurant is expanding to Northern Virginia.

Ben's Chili Bowl tweeted that it will open in Arlington in a space that used to be home to another well-known restaurant, Ray's Hell Burger. The burger joint made news when President Barack Obama ate there in 2009.

Ben's original location is on U street, and it currently has stands at both FedEx Field in Landover and the Nationals Park in Washington. But the Arlington restaurant will be its first foray into Virginia. Ben's is also looking to open a restaurant on H Street in northeast that will open late next year.

The Arlington location is expected to open by early next year.
