WASINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police say they have arrested a woman after a baby boy was missing for several days. Eight-month-old Jh'mere Holloway is safe and sound but police only found out about the disappearance Sunday morning.
The infant was in the care of a friend when the mother says the two vanished. The mother of Jh'mere Holloway says her child was supposed to be in the care of 21-year-old Jessica Walls, a trusted friend who would sometimes look after her children.
According to the mother, the baby would be returned this past Wednesday at his home in the 1400 block of Taylor Street NW. The two women later agreed to meet on Friday.
When Friday rolled around with no sign of her son, Jh'mere's mother frantically began trying to contact Walls, without success. That's when she called police.
Police alerted the media Sunday morning about baby Jh'mere, asking people to be on the lookout for their person of interest. By the afternoon, police had the baby in their custody.
Detectives and child protective services were at police headquarters at 300 Indiana Ave Sunday afternoon questioning the family and the person who allegedly kept the baby. There still aren't any clear answers as to what happened and why the baby went missing.
By the afternoon, a WUSA9 reporter saw the baby in a green shirt being carried by his father, walking into police headquarters.
Monday morning, police said that Walls was charged with kidnapping on Sunday. No other details were immediately available.
