Alexis Murphy's cell phone found, teen still missing

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS 19) -- The FBI has found the cell phone of missing Nelson County teen Alexis Murphy.

The location of where the phone was found is not being released to the public.

Over the weekend, investigators spent time searching the Rockfish River and other bodies of water.

The Daily Progress reports that a searcher found a red sweater in the river. Investigators have not said whether it belonged to Murphy.

FBI Media Coordinator Dee Rybiski released a statement saying, "Through community support and the media's engagement law enforcement have received several hundred calls with potential leads; which investigators diligently continue to work through."

Seventeen-year-old Alexis Murphy disappeared on August 3rd after leaving her Nelson County home.

Randy Allen Taylor is being held in jail, charged with her disappearance.
