The Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer is a kick-off event to Washington, D.C.'s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  It began in 2009 when a group of good friends in the TV news industry decided to get together for one cause.  The pink cocktail affair held every spring draws an amazing crowd of breast cancer survivors, advocates and political and media power play.

The Newsbabes host team consists of well-known newswomen from across the region from media affiliates such as WUSA9, WJLA7, NBC4, News Channel 8, WTOP News, FOX5 and CNN.  The complete host team list is located at

WJLA7 morning anchor Alison Starling who lost a friend to breast cancer says, "Anything we can do together as women in this community to raise money and awareness about breast cancer is an invaluable service."

Invited VIP guests include Dr. Jill Biden, Secretary of Health and Human Services Honorable Kathleen Sebelius, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and First Lady Jonice Gray Tucker, Hadassah Lieberman , Lynda Carter, former D.C. First Lady Michelle Cross Fenty and Grammy Award Winning Artist Mýa.

Only 200 pink tickets will be sold to the event.  Tickets to the event cost $100 in which proceeds benefit the DC Newsbabes Team for the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure.  Approximately 75 percent of the proceeds from the race benefit community outreach and education programs, and the remaining funds go to research.

The event is sponsored by The Full Cup, NUVO, Sweet Signatures, Save 2nd Base, Fezelry Jewelry, Ladies DC and Spotted MP (Marketing + Public Relations).
