UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA) -- It seems everyone is talking about distracted driving these days but one Maryland man is taking it a step further.  To the front yard.

Wayne Avery is the owner of Tommy's Auto Sales in Upper Marlboro.  He's fixed up cars for more than 50 years.  But there is one car, he won't touch.

"People will see it and they'll talk about it.  I've had students come in and take pictures and do papers on it," Avery explains to 9NEWS NOW's Angie Goff.

Avery wants people to see the smashed, trashed, and wrecked vehicle to realize the dangers of using a cell phone while driving.

"One, two, three, clap!  That's how it happens."

Avery has put crash scenes in front of his shop on busy Columbia Pike for 15 years.  Buckle up, Don't drink and drive were past themes.  Distracted driving takes the car this time.

"They keep wrecking them, I'lll keep putting them out here and wake them up!" says Avery, shaking his head.

Avery is also hoping everyone will take the 9NEWS NOW Great Hang Up Pledge.
