LANDOVER, Md. (WUSA) -- Philadelphia defeated the Redskins 33-27 on Monday Night Football.

The contest was being called one of the most anticipated Redskins' season openers ever.

The Eagles won the coin toss and wasted no time establishing their offense. Michael Vick launched a 28-yard pass to his tight end Brent Celek. Several draw plays to running back LeSean Mccoy were quite successful, including a fourth down conversion.

Then one of the more bizarre plays in NFL history happened. A Michael Vick pass was tipped by Ryan Kerrigan and ruled a lateral. DeAngelo Hall picked up the football and ran it in for the touchdown. Washington led 7-0.

The Eagles responded though, in a big way, with 33 consecutive points.

Vick tossed two touchdown passes, one to Brent Celek and the other to DeSean Jackson.  Vick also added a touchdown run, as did LeSean Mccoy.

The Redskins finally answered back with less than a minute left in the 3rd quarter on an Alfred Morris TD run.

The Redskins continued to fight and cut the lead to 33-20 when RG3 connected with Leonard Hankerson on a 10-yard Touchdown pass with just over 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

But the Eagles were just too much and the Redskins had a number of times when they hurt their own cause.  Griffin III finished with two interceptions and Morris lost a fumble.

Griffin tossed a touchdown pass with a little more than a minute left in the fourth to make the score 33-27.

The Redskins are now 0-1 and will face Green Bay next week.
