San Martin, CA (Sports Network) - Ellen Port successfully defended her USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship title on Thursday with a 3 & 2 victory over Susan Cohn.

Port, a four-time U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champ, never trailed in the final match at CordeValle Golf Club en route to her sixth career USGA title.

With the victory, Port is now tied with Glenna Collett Vare and Hollis Stacy for fourth all time in USGA titles. JoAnne Gunderson Carner leads the list with eight, while Carol Semple Thompson and Anne Quast Sander have each won seven.

Port took control of the match early as she won the first three holes.

The streak started with a par at the first, where Cohn failed to get up and down from a greenside bunker. Cohn would eventually double bogey the hole, and would continue to add double bogeys at both the second and third to hand Port a 3-up advantage.

After the duo traded pars over the next nine holes, Cohn converted a 6-foot par putt before Port 3-putted for bogey to cut her deficit to two.

But Cohn would miss a 7-foor par effort at the 14th to hand Port back her 3-up lead and following a pair of birdies at the 15th, Port rolled in a 4-foot par putt at the 16th to clinch the victory and become the first back-to-back winner of this event since Diane Lang won in 2005 and 2006.
