WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- If you're a sports fan or a TMZ reader, you may have seen the report about a man registering the name Washington Bravehearts. TMZ posted Aris Mardirossian's trademark application, which indicates he wants to use the name for "entertainment in the nature of football games." Mardirossian also created a company called Washington Brave Hearts, LLC.

This led to speculation that Bravehearts could be a choice if the Washington Redskins team decides to change its name. TMZ also claimed that Redskins owner Dan Snyder and Aris Mardirossian lived in the same neighborhood and "formed a united front on their block a few years back -- both men wanted to cut down trees on their lots but they were being blocked by the county."

WUSA 9 Sports talked to Tony Wyllie, Redskins VP of Communications. According to Wyllie, the team is not involved and is not connected in any way to the trademark filing. Wyllie added that Snyder does not even know Aris Mardirossian.

WUSA 9's Kristin Fisher will have more on this story at 5 and 6 p.m.
