(WUSA) -- Thirty teachers from all over the country got a chance to feel what it's like to be in outer space! A ride aboard a specially designed Boeing 727 let them be weightless for 30 seconds at a time.
The Northrop Grumman Foundation sponsored the trip. The idea was: to get students excited about careers in science, it's good to excite the people who teach them. Teachers from Maryland, DC and Virginia were among those fortunate enough to get the experience.
Aside from enjoying the rare opportunity, teachers also did experiments in zero gravity to see how things would be different than here on earth.
Once they landed, each of the educators were anxious to get back to their classrooms to share what they learned.
Pretty cool, huh?
