COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland State Police have reopened the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway in College Park after an early morning fatal crash.
Maryland State Police responded to the scene where a Cadillac and a Chrysler collided around 2:42 Monday morning. State police say both drivers were extricated and transported in serious condition. One of the victims, a middle-aged man, died from his injuries.
An accident reconstruction team is investigated the incident, closing the Inner Loop near the I-95 split for a little over three hours. All lanes of the Inner Loop reopened around 6:00 a.m. Drivers were diverted through the nearby Park and Ride lot off exit 27 during the closure.
Right now Maryland State Police are not releasing the identity of the deceased victim, pending notification of next of kin.
