HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 31-year-old man is accused of running a marijuana growing operation out of his home, which includes a licensed child care center.

Howard County Police say David Geoffrey Anderson was charged with multiple marijuana counts, including manufacturing, production and distribution of the drug.

Police tell us that they got a tip that Anderson was growing large quantities of marijuana inside his house on Baltimore Street.  Police investigated and obtained a search warrant.

Police say they found a hydroponic marijuana grow operation in a room under the house. They say the room was insulated for heat and had an "elaborate electrical system with high-intensity lighting." They also found piping to vent the heat outside and scented materials in vents to mask the odor, say police.

Additionally, marijuana plants, seeds, fertilizer, plastic baggies full of marijuana, a handgun , ammunition and additional fireams were also found on the property, according to police.

Anderson was arrested and then released from the Howard County Detention Center on $35,000 bond, say police.

Police say the child care center has been suspended by the Office of Child Care at the State Department of Education.
