LA PLATA, Md. (WUSA9) -- Thursday night, a child was grazed by a bullet after getting into a car in La Plata.
According to police, the boy's grandmother was watching him play outside when the child got into a car parked in the driveway of a home on Hopewell Place. The grandmother told police she then heard a gunshot. The child then got out of the car, running to her. Detectives recovered the gun, a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun registered to a family member, inside the car. Police say they do not know why the gun was in the car.
They continue to investigate. At this time, there are no charges.
