GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County Police say a man was shot when another car pulled up beside his vehicle and a person inside opened fire.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., Monday the 21-year-old victim told police he was shot while he was a passenger in a vehicle at the Sunoco Gas Station in the 300 block of Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie. Officers determined the victim's vehicle was leaving the lot when a second vehicle pulled alongside it. A man got out of the driver's side and shot twice through the driver's side of the vehicle the victim was in, shooting the victim in the abdomen. The man then got back into his vehicle and fled the scene, say police.
The victim was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and is currently in critical condition, according to police.
Police are still looking for the suspect. He is described as a Black male, 6 feet tall with a heavy build, wearing a black t-shirt and a red baseball hat. Police say he was driving a blue or black full-size pickup with tinted windows, that was possibly a four-wheel drive.
Police say based on interviews with a witness, detectives believe the incident may be drug-related.
The shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence, say police. They ask anyone with information to call Eastern District Detectives at 410-222-6145.
