WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Washington Post is reporting that Coolidge High School football head coach Natalie Randolph has resigned.

Randolph was the only active female high school football head coach in the country and the third ever.

She became head coach for the 2010 season. At an event announcing her position on March 12, 2010 then-D.C. mayor Adrian Fenty declared the day "Natalie Randolph Day."

Before that, Randolph was an assistant coach at H.D. Woodson in Washington in 2006 and 2007. She played six seasons as a receiver and on special teams with the DC Divas of the National Women's Football Association.

Randolph led the team to an 8-3 record in 2011.
