WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- This week the South Carolina man who took it upon himself to help out during last month's federal government shutdown is being rewarded.
You may remember Chris Cox brought his lawnmower and chainsaw to the National Mall, and kept the grounds around the Lincoln Memorial clean.
The website Crowd It Forward started raising money to pay Cox back for his work. According to the website, the group surpassed their goal of $1500 and are now up to $1800.

Reports say Cox will get a new chainsaw along with some cash.
