WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A former doctor at the D.C. Jail was sentenced Friday for sexually assaulting an inmate, officials said.
Lewis Jackson, 37, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree sexual abuse in January, officials said.
According to officials, Jackson was working at the D.C. Jail as a medical doctor when he sexually assaulted an inmate who was seeking medical care. The victim reported the incident immediately.
Jackson also pled guilty in November 2012 for sexually abusing three inmates at a federal penitentiary in Atlanta where he had worked as a doctor, officials said.
He has been sentenced to 25 months in prison for those crimes.
After serving his five-year sentence, Jackson will be placed on 10 years of supervised release. He also must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
