WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in front of a school in Southeast DC early Friday morning.
The shooting happened in the 5000 block of Bass Place at 3:233 a.m. outside Nalle Elementary School. Police say they have collected a large amount of shell casings from the scene and that some of the bullets hit cars, which were then towed away.
Police say 27-year-old Tyree Beysean Miller died in the shooting. Miller will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for determination of a cause and manner of death.
Classes at the school will not be disrupted, we are told.
50th and Bass Place is closed to traffic, but the sidewalks and all other streets around the school are open.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person wanted for this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099.
