LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- A construction vehicle struck a gas line in Leesburg on Friday morning.

A construction crew hit the line at Sycolin Road and Tavistock Drive SE and damaged a gas control valve operating a large diameter, pressurized gas line, according to law enforcement.

A commercial building in the 800 block of Sycolin Road was evacuated as a precaution, say authorities.

Authorities say Sycolin Road was temporarily closed between Battlefield Parkway and Miller Drive due to the gas leak.

The leak was contained and repairs performed by approximately 9:30 a.m.
