MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- St. Mary's County authorities say a man died after not yielding the right of way to a truck on Monday night.
At approximately 7:55 p.m. deputies responded to the area of Three Notch Road and New Market Turner Road for the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. They found a Ford F-150 on the shoulder of the roadway and a pedestrian lying in the roadway being treated by Emergency Medical Personnel. The pedestrian, later identified as 52-year-old Roland Philip Tucker of Mechanicsville, succumbed to his injuries while on scene.
At this point in the investigation, authorities believe Tucker was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Three Notch Road just south of New Market Turner Road. Tucker failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of a 2011 Ford F-150.
No other injuries were reported, according to authorities.
Alcohol, drugs, and speed are not considered to be factors in the collision, say authorities.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not already provided a statement is asked to call Corporal Brian Connelly # 151 of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office at 301.475.4200 Ext. 9010.
