1 placed on leave after possible embezzlement uncovered

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- Authorities say restructuring of units within the Loudoun County Criminal Investigations and Patrol divisions may have uncovered possible embezzlement.

According to a press release from county government officials, Sheriff Michael Chapman was notified about the potential criminaly activity and contacted the Virginia State Police for an independent investigation.

Few details were released, such as names of employees under investigation, but county authorities say one employee has been placed on administrative leave.
