DC police arrest man suspected of 4 armed robberies

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metropolitan police have arrested a suspect in connection with four armed robberies between Nov. 8 and Nov. 16 in Washington.

The suspect is identified as 41 year-old Alonzo Johnson of no fixed address. Johnson was placed under arrest in the 1200 block of Queen Street, NE, and charged with armed robbery in all four offenses.

Johnson is suspected in the following incidents, according to Metropolitan Police Department officials:

 

  • On Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at approximately 11:33 am, a male suspect entered the Home Food Store located at 2200 block of 18th Street, NW. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency and other property.
  • On Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at approximately 6:40 pm, a male suspect entered the Subway Sandwich Shop located at 1500 block of North Capitol Street, NW. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency.
  • On Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at approximately 6:30 pm, a male suspect entered the Subway Sandwich Shop located at 800 block of H Street, NW. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency.
  • On Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at approximately 7:25 pm, a male suspect entered the Subway Sandwich Shop located at 1900 block of New Hampshire Avenue, NW. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency
Detectives are investigating whether Johnson may have been responsible for other similar offenses.
