CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Va. deputy was struck by a car after a traffic stop incident.
It happened at James Madison Highway on a dirt road at around 7:53 p.m.on Friday, police said.
Deputy Joshua Haught pulled over a vehicle with an equipment violation, officials said.
After talking to the driver, Haught returned to his patrol car but was struck before he could enter it.
The driver of the vehicle that stuck the deputy, Dawn Offer, 32, of Orange, did not stop after striking Haught's leg, officials said.
Haught then chased offer and caught up to her about a mile down the road, officials said.
"Offer was charged with failure to move over for law enforcement and released on a summons, and the passenger, William Washington, 33, of Woodbridge, was found to be wanted in Spotsylvania for non-payment of child support, arrested, and released on a $3000 unsecured bond," officials said in a news release.
