Fed Ex Truck Hits School Bus

SUNDERLAND, Md. (WUSA) - A Fed Ex truck hit the back of a school bus on Rte. 2 near the Mt. Hope Community Center on Monday afternoon.

According to Calvert County Schools, three people were transported to area hospitals. Gail Hoerauf-Bennett with Calvert County Schools said four students from Windy Hill Middle School were on the bus.

The Maryland State Police Barracks in Calvert County report that one student and the school bus driver were taken by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three other students on the bus were uninjured.

A Maryland State Police spokesperson also said the truck driver was flown to the Prince George's County Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The state police spokesperson and the schools spokesperson both said the school bus was stopped with lights flashing at the time of the accident. It is unknown what charges the Fed Ex driver may face. No charges have been filed at this time.

The Fed Ex truck had a leaking 100 gallon fuel tank.
