ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- For more than a decade I've had no need for combs or shampoo.   I don't have hair on my head, and at this point honestly, I'm over it.

But lately I've been wondering how far the technology has come since I first noticed my growing bald spot all those years ago.  I found out when we paid a visit to the Hair Loss Clinic in Alexandria.

Trichologist, or hair loss expert, Bobby Spence showed off everything from his low level laser therapy to some new versions of old favorites like Minoxidil or Rogaine.

They also have some pretty realistic looking hair pieces that glue on to your scalp and won't embarrass you, if you're willing to plop down $500 or more to have one.

Spence even looked at my head under magnification and said my hair follicles are still alive, so that if I had the desire (and the willingness to spend a few thousand bucks) I could likely have a significant portion of my own hair back again.

I'd have to continue the treatments basically for as long as I wanted to keep the hair, but doing this story did accomplish one very important thing:  You see, when I lost my hair it felt like I didn't have any say in the matter.  Mother Nature had let me down.  Now, I could perhaps change all that, but the the reality is that now...I'm over it.
