CINCINNATI (AP) - A prosecutor says Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones punched a woman in the head, causing her head to snap back and leaving her with scrapes and bruises.
An assistant Cincinnati prosecutor made the accusations as Jones' assault trial started Monday.
He is accused of striking 34-year-old Shannon Wesley outside a downtown bar in June. Jones' attorney told the judge in his opening statement that the woman struck first and that Jones was the victim.
The prosecutor says Jones hit Wesley after she poured beer on Jones' shoulder. The prosecutor says Jones was using foul language and insulting Wesley and her friends. One of Wesley's friends testified she saw an angry Jones hit Wesley.
Jones waived a jury trial, so the judge will decide the case.
