(USA TODAY) -- Infiniti has revealed its vision for a far more emotionally styled small crossover SUV.
It's the Infiniti Q30 Concept, due to be shown next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. Infiniti says it "signals the contemporary design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle which will target a new generation of premium customers."
Infiniti's chief, Johan de Nysschen told USA TODAY earlier this month that he wants more vehicles that will sell because they capture customer's hearts, not just their heads or senses of thrift.
Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, sees the Q30 Concept as creating a "radical shift" that defies categories. It's not quite a coupe, hatchback or a crossover. It's somewhere in between.
That idea has been tried before, though -- witness the Acura ZDX -- and it hasn't always been a success. We'll see what the reaction is this time.
